Configure the Readers

To configure the reader, the RLS Configurator must know the location and reader profile. For more information, see "Add the Reader Profile" and see "Adding the Locations".

Note: A reader profile and a listener location is required for reader configuration.

  1. From the RLS Configurator, select Readers from the navigation pane. The Reader Settings area appears in the work area to the right.

  1. The Add Reader area appears in the work area to the right.

  1. Reader Name (required): add the reader name.
  2. Reader Description (optional): add a description.
  3. Reader Profile (required): select the reader profile from the drop-down list.
  4. Reader MAC Address: enter the MAC address of the reader in this field.
  5. Add Reader Antennas: associate the RLS location with this antenna. Click the Add icon in the Reader Antennas portion of the form.

  1. The RLS Reader Antenna dialog appears. Map the RLS location to the reader antenna at this site.

  1. Antenna Description (optional): add a description for the reader antenna in this field.
  2. Minimum RSSI: leave the default setting in this field.
  3. Minimum Read Count: leave the default setting in this field.
  4. Read Count Persist: leave the default setting in this field.
  5. Listener Location: click the drop-down arrow in this field and select the RLS location that is associated with this antenna.
  6. Select the Save icon to add the reader antenna to RLS.
